UPS is always looking for ways to increase efficiency and is quick to adopt new technology that can streamline operations. For example, the company introduced a chatbot that can answer customer questions and track packages just three months after the idea was discovered.
United Airlines is celebrating 20 years of service between Shannon Airport in Ireland and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. "Since 1998, our service has allowed our customers from the west of Ireland to take advantage of our extensive route network from our New York/Newark hub that today offers 75 nonstop connections across the US, Canada and Mexico," said United executive Bob Schumacher.
United Airlines has in place new Premium Plus cabins on some international flights and passengers can book them as they would regular premium economy tickets. When fully deployed, the Premium Plus cabins will feature larger seats with more legroom and enhanced food and beverage services.
Unionized employees at Caesars Entertainment casino resorts in Las Vegas have agreed to a new five-year contract with the operator. "I attended the negotiations, and this is the best contract we've reached in the history of the union, especially for [guest room attendants]," said Rocio Puente, a housekeeper at Caesars Palace.
At the East Coast Gaming Congress in Atlantic City, a panel made up of technology company and sports betting representatives said smartphone bets will become the fastest-growing segment of sports betting. In-play bets will likely drive the category, as viewers bet on individual home runs and strikes for players.
A One World Identity Labs poll reveals that, although only 1% of respondents had participated in online gaming, 43% would try it within the next year. The spike could represent major opportunities for sports betting and, because of age requirements, identity verification and authentication companies.
Washington will soon gain a new gaming facility and cafe called Last Chance Casino and Bingo from the Sauk-Suiattle tribe. It will open Sept. 1 with nearly 200 slot machines, a 70-seat bingo hall and a bar.
Cameron Lamming, chief development officer of RAR Hospitality, says property management services are currently in demand. "There is new supply in the pipeline, but the demand growth outpaces this new supply, leaving ample opportunity in the right submarkets," he says.
